Key Features of Xenon Streamer |
3GPP Handset Compatibility
Streams to any off-the-shelf 3GPP handset - no modification or additional is player client software is required; all native streaming players are supported.
Dynamic Bitrate Adaptation (DBA)
Using DBA, Xenon Streamer finds the best streaming bitrate for fluctuating cellular network conditions, regardless of carrier.
PhoneDB – client detection and adaptation
The Real-time Billing Interface allows a service provider to build dynamic billing logic and detailed usage logs. Call Detail Records (CDRs) record the usage information of every streaming session.
Billing Interfaces
The embedded PhoneDB in Xenon Streamer enables client detection for streaming optimization. Information about newly-released handsets can be added in real-time without interrupting the streaming service.
URL Authentication - Protect Mobile Streaming Services
Protect your streaming service without complicated backend authorization integration. Xenon Streamer’s URL Authentication feature prevents pirated streaming by creating a unique token which either expires after a specified number of uses or after a specified time.
SNMP and Logging
SNMP and detailed logging enable efficient monitoring of the streaming system and have enabled Vidiator’s mobile operator customers to meet their service level requirements. Xenon Streamer’s access log is based on the W3C standard, which allows any web service statistics reporting tool to be used to analyze streaming service usage.
Monitoring Interface
Xenon Streamer opens an HTTP-based API to show the real-time occupancy of streaming connections. You can even use Internet Explorer to check in real-time the number of streams to end-users.
H.264 and HE AAC v.1 and v.2
Cutting-edge codecs such as H.264 and HE AAC (v.2) let you provide the best quality video to your users as these new codecs perform 30-50% better than older codecs. New codecs are regularly added to maintain future compatibility.
Multiple OS Support
Xenon Streamer supports various operating systems including Linux, Solaris and Windows, providing you the most flexibility in platform design.
Simple Installation and Configuration
Xenon Streamer’s comprehensive user guide, default configuration, and provided sample files enable easy installation and streaming set-up - in about 10 minutes! Xenon Streamer doesn’t require you to be knowledgeable about streaming technologies - all the configurations for fine tuning are described in the detailed user guide.
Network File System Support
Network File System can be used as a media repository, allowing you to easily separate media storage from the streaming system for better scalability.
On-the-Fly Configuration
On-the-fly configuration allows you to change Xenon Streamer configurations without restarting the system. All on-going connections will be maintained until served, as if no parameter change occured.
Live Encoder Compatibility
Xenon Streamer is compatible with other standard live encoders such as Helix Mobile Encoder Live and Apple Quicktime Broadcaster. However, we recommend using Xenon Live Encoder (XLE) for live streaming (including TV, cable TV, and traffic monitoring) to take advantage of the synergistic features built between Xenon Streamer and XLE, which include live streaming bitrate adaptation, TCP interleaved connection for easy firewall configuration, and two-way communication for minimizing network usage.
Music Playlist
Music Playlist enables advanced music streaming services. Multiple music clips can be assembled in a playlist, which can be streamed without buffering or disconnection; it’s like streaming one long clip. No additional handset software is required. Additional playlist features include preview, shuffle, loop, and track selection.
Fast Track Switching
End users can switch music tracks with just a few keystrokes, without buffering or disconnection.
