Key Features of Xenon Live Encoder |
High Quality Encoding
Current encoding standards do not address quality. Vidiator has optimized various encoding algorithms to maximize the quality of encoded content, enhancing the user’s experience.
Handset Compatibility
Standardization does not mean a standardized encoded file can be played on any standard handset player. Vidiator participates in international interoperability tests to ensure Xenon Live Encoder is compatible with handsets in the market. As its result, Xenon Live Encoder supports handset interoperability with codecs such as MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, AMR, AAC and HE AAC (v.1 and v.2).
Streaming Server Compatibility
XLE is compatible with any standard conforming streaming server, such as Xenon Streamer, Real Networks’ Helix Mobile streaming server, and Apple’s Darwin and Quicktime streaming server.
Standard Interface to Capture Cards
All capture cards with a driver compatible with the VfW (Video for Windows) interface (the majority) are supported by Xenon Live Encoder.
Command Line Interface with XML-Based Configuration
Command line interface allows you to automate your encoding production. With its XML based configuration, you can easily integrate your production platform to control the encoding parameters of XLE.
Simulated Live Channel Creation
Xenon Live Encoder allows users to create their own ‘live’ channels using locally stored 3gp files, saving costs over getting an actual live channel. Also, users can create a live channel mixing live inputs and 3gp files to replace specific programs of a live channel.
Scheduling and Reuse of Recorded Files
You can create daily or weekly schedules for your live channels. If there is any programming gap with a live source, you can use previously recorded clip to fill the gap on the fly, thus maximizing your service time for more revenue.
Scheduled Recording
With 24/7 continuous live streaming, the encoded/streamed content is usually removed automatically as the content size is too big for recording. XLE allows you to specify the time and duration of recorded live streams. Recorded files are saved as 3gp files, which can be used immediately for on-demand streaming or simulated broadcasts.
Multiple Encoding Channels from One Source
Reduce your hardware cost for capture cards with XLE’s multiple encoding channels from one source, which allows you to use the same capture card for encoding different encoding profiles. For example, you can have an H.264 live channel and another MPEG-4 live channel with one capture card using XLE.
Simultaneous Multi-Track Encoding
Used with Xenon™ Streamer, multiple tracks with different bitrates and/or framerates can be encoded simultaneously for use with dynamic bitrate adaptation.
Image/Text Overly (Ad Insertion)
With the real-time editing feature, you can easily add formatted text and/or images, such as your company logo, to any encoded video and do son on the fly. This feature can easily be applied to mobile TV advertisements. With the slide show feature, you can schedule the insertion of /Images/text to create a video channel.
H.264 and HE AAC v.1 and v.2
Cutting edge codecs such as H.264 and HE AAC v.1 and v.2 let you provide the best quality audio and video with new handsets as these new codecs performs 30-50% better. New codecs are regularly added to maintain future compatibility.
Sound Volume Control
Xenon Live Encoder enables you to control the sound volume without relying on the volume level from the input source, minimizing your operational burden.
Preview
Preview enables you to check the quality and editing of your encoded video®luding overlaid images and text, before you actually stream it through a streaming server.
Direct Streaming Support
Xenon Live Encoder supports one direct RTSP streaming session to test if the live encoding service is working. You can use any 3GPP PC player such as Apple Quicktime to check the streamed live channel.
Service Status Window
The Xenon Live Encoder GUI includes a window that shows the status of encoded channels and network usage regarding the streaming servers; a separate network or monitoring tool is not required.
SNMP and Logging
SNMP and detailed logging enable efficient monitoring of the streaming system. Xenon Live Encoder has enabled various mobile operators and content providers to meet their service level requirements with its SNMP and logging features.
Screen Resolution Resizing
If the live source doesn’t fit the handset screen size, you can resize any source to fit to it. Any standard screen sizes are supported by Xenon Live Encoder®luding QCIF and QVGA.
Synergies with Xenon Streamer
Xenon Streamer is recommended for use with Xenon Live Encoder for live streaming (such as TV, cable TV and traffic monitoring) to use the synergy features Vidiator built between Xenon Streamer and Xenon Live Encoder. The synergy features include live streaming bitrate adaptation, TCP interleaved connection for easy firewall configuration, and two-way communication for minimizing network usage.
